When I visited Anahawan in June 2010, my Smartbro Wireless Modem has been completely useless, without the slightest hint of internet signal. This is at least in our area at Lower Tagup-on. They say Smartbro performs well in other areas in Anahawan and in some days.
I was hoping things would improve this time and, yes, it did. From zero bar signals 8 months ago, it now has about 4 or 5 bars. The biggest setback, however, is that it is only limited to 2G, with not the slightest hint that 3G even exists. With only 2G signal available, download speed is painfully slow that loading the facebook homepage would take 10 to 15 minutes – 10 years as we would punningly describe the amount of waiting time.
The speed, however, improves sometime late afternoon, when loading web pages would take “only” about 2 to 5 minutes each. Very late at night and probably at dawn, the speed is “greatly” improved to about 1 minute or few seconds per page.
The verdict: Smartbro Internet in Anahawan, at least in our area in Lower Tagup-on and during the second or 3rd week of February 2011, is virtually useless!
They say Globe Tattoo has greatly improved its performance lately. Next time, I might try Globe Tattoo and hopefully be able to enjoy better internet connectivity.
It really is a great pain being disconnected from the rest of the world every time you visit Anahawan, especially when you have been used to rely on the internet for majority of your work and part of your social life.
