Anahawnons and the World Wide Web

Roughly a decade ago, searching Anahawan in Google almost always return really home-sickening results. We were already satisfied with seeing "Anahawan" in few government websites with only 2-3 paragraph contents.  The Anahawnons yahoo group hardly had 3 members and remained at that number for about a year. It took about 3 years for the group to hone a membership of just about 40. It was a time when the Internet was, for many of us, just a high-tech fantasy concept that exists elsewhere.

Today, Anahawnon voices are heard much more than ever, reaching places on Earth much further than they do a few years back. Anahawnon sons and daughters from the other side of the globe can
now connect with their families in just minutes, a process that would take weeks to about a few months during the snail mail era. New relatives have been found, friends and classmates are now reconnecting with each other with just a few mouse clicks and keyboard hits. Meeting someone from the past is something that a generation back would completely attribute almost purely to chance.

Facebook is just one of the testimony of the undeniable presence of Anahawnons in the web. It is even more likely that before you found this site today, you logged on to your facebook account first. :) It would be a challenge to determine how many Anahawnons are there on facebook nowadays, it could be hundreds already. I believe thousands is not even an overstatement.

As the May 2010 Election is coming, some municipal candidates are quick enough to realize that they can reach more potential voters in less than an hour spent in front of their monitors than they do roaming around campaigning in this small town in a day. Candidate for councilor Anatolio Yoek Ang and Vice Mayorial Candidate Ern Luta are just among those who creatively caught up with the trends.

Before facebook became the social network of choice, there was friendster. Someone who uses the account name Anahawan2007 captured the beauty of Anahawan and put them online. The response of Anahawnons were just so overwhelming that she has to post a tighter membership procedure on her blog called A Place We Call… HOME.

The growing number of tech savvy Anahawnons even made their way into the world of youtube. If you are an Anahawnon who has been away from Anahawan for a while, you may visit youtube and type "Anahawan" on the youtube search bar. Go ahead and put some smile on your face.

These are just few short narratives of how Anahawnons embraced the world wide web. I am pretty sure there are other Anahawnon sites out there. I remember there was also a forum for SAHS Alumni and an anahawan.org forum put up by Anahawnons. I am just sorry I could not remember the site addresses.

It is very encouraging to know that my fellow fun-loving people from this small town in the heart of the pacific are now catching up with the global trends.

Way to go Anahawnons!!! Regards to all!
