SAHS Anniversary and Homecoming 2010 - Part 3: A Vista of Inspirations

This would be the 3rd of this 5-part series. The previous part is right here: Every Alum is a Star.

Not even the feeling of being a Hollywood star could match the experience of meeting old friends, classmates, and batch mates whom we have spent four dramatic, rebellious, painful, joyful, adventurous, or confused years of our lives. No words could describe the
excitement and suspense of seeing old friends. Though some already forgot each other’s names and many even barely had the chance of talking about what became of each other after years of individual pursuits in life, seeing, just seeing, and recognizing familiar faces is more than enough to trigger overly joyful moments and bring back colorful memories of yesteryears.

The SAHS Alumni Homecoming is also an opportunity to find one’s place in more than half a century of generations that came and gone through our Alma Mater’s leading light. It is easy to count the number of years that has passed after graduation but I was only able to feel the substance of those years when I saw the younger batches that came after me. The playful kids I used to know are now professionals, some even more successful, some already parents, and some still enjoying their puberty stage :). For a moment I felt older. And then I realize that in the SAHS Alumni Family, I am now a big brother :).

I did not see old alumni on that day, everyone looked young, dancing and laughing, all so proud! I felt chills when I saw aloof and shy alumni suddenly joined in the fun. With their uniforms, funny costumes, and all sorts of japorms, there is no doubt my big brothers and sisters in the SAHS Alumni Family are all having the times of their lives.

On a wider perspective, the sea of alumni gathered on that day was a vista of inspirations. One can see an overview of the kind of life each of us had chosen after graduation, what each of us has achieved, and what each of us has become. We learn and take inspirations not only from those who have shown success, but also from those who did not achieve that much. It was a magnificent sight, a view of inspirations to guide us in our further pursuits in life.
